Privacy notice
This privacy notice explains what happens to your information when you use this site. The short version: we do not collect personal information.
No accounts, no forms
You do not need an account to use the practice tests, and the site has no sign-up or contact forms.
Your progress stays on your device
Your test scores and the questions you got wrong are stored in your own browser using local storage, so you can see your progress when you come back. This information is not sent to us. You can delete it at any time with the "Clear my progress" button on the practice page, or by clearing your browser's site data.
No tracking or advertising cookies
The site does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and it loads no third-party scripts or fonts.
Server logs
Like any website, the server that hosts these pages may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) for security and to keep the site running. These are not used to identify you.
Links to other sites
We link to GOV.UK and other official sites. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them.
What local storage holds
The practice page stores one item in your browser's local storage. It contains the date, name and score of your last 50 tests, a count of how many times you have seen each question, and a list of the question numbers you last got wrong. It does not contain your name, email address, location or anything else that identifies you. Because it lives only in your browser, it does not follow you to other devices, and anyone using the same browser on the same device can see it.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you have rights over personal data that an organisation holds about you, including the right to access it and to ask for it to be deleted. Because we do not collect personal data through this site, there is normally nothing for us to give or delete: your practice data is already under your control in your own browser. If you have a concern about how your data is handled, you can contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator.
Children
The Life in the UK Test is for adults, and the site is aimed at adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Future paid features
We plan to offer an optional paid "full pack". It is not on sale yet and the site takes no payments today. If we introduce payments or accounts, payment details would be handled by a regulated payment provider, and this notice will explain exactly what is collected, why, and for how long, before any such feature goes live.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and contains only static pages. There is no database of users to be breached.
Changes
If we add features that change how information is handled, for example paid accounts, we will update this notice first. Last updated: October 2026.
